Merino Wool Works (Greenock 2023)
The Greenock Merino Wool Mill was founded in 1817 by John and James Finlay. It was one of the first merino wool mills in Scotland and quickly became a successful business. The mill produced a wide range of merino wool products, including yarn, fabric, and clothing. In the late 19th century, the merino wool industry in Scotland began to decline and the Greenock Merino Wool Mill closed in 1902.
